IHG PointBreaks, are discounted award redemption’s, which are available at select IHG hotels for just 5,000 points per night. The list of hotels that are on the “PointBreaks” list, fluctuate every couple of months.
IHG hotel brands include InterContinental Hotels, Holiday Inn, Candlewood Su
ites, Crowne Plaza, Hualuxe Hotels, Hotel Indigo, EVEN Hotels and Staybridge Suites.
The new “PointBreaks” list is now out and bookable and is valid for stays through October 31st, 2017. You can book the discounted nights here or here.
Discounted PointBreak availability is limited and may sell out at any time, so if you do see a property that you may be interested in, you may want to book it as soon as you can.
Most of the time, IHG allows you to cancel a reservation free of charge up to 1 day before with no penalty. Just be sure to check the specific hotel property for their cancellation policy
— Keep in mind about the PointBreaks rule, where you are only able to book a maximum of two bookings per hotel, though each booking can be for as many nights as you want.
Don’t have any IHG reward points? You can buy points direct from IHG. Purchasing 5,000 points direct from IHG, will be just $67.50. (If you purchase 27,00 points, with the current 40% bonus offer, your total will be $187.50, which is just 0.69 cents per point.)
— For a limited time, you can also earn 80,000 + 5,000 bonus points (and a FREE Night in any IHG property, every year!) with the IHG credit card. The credit card is free for the first year and then $49 per year afterwards. Cardholders also get 10% of their points deposited back into their accounts, on all award redemptions!

Once you have 5,000 IHG points in your account. A “method” to get additional IHG points on the cheap, is to book any cancellable point hotel stay at any IHG location using “cash and points”, such as the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Dallas Park Central Northeast, which is $65 + 5,000 points. Once booked, simply cancel the reward stay. The $65 that you paid is nonrefundable, so when you cancel the hotel you will instead get 15,000 points back in your account. Just make sure that when booking these rooms, it says that there will be no charge for cancelling. With this option the points will come out to just 0.65 cents per point or just $32.50 for 5,000 points!
