If you have gotten in on some of our recent Kohl’s deals, you have probably got a boatload of Kohl’s cash. Kohl’s cash is sent in an email when you order online, or given as a paper certificate when you make purchases in-store. The Kohl’s cash can be used on just about everything – excluding gift cards. The cash comes with a set date range within which it can be used. For example the Kohl’s cash gotten with some of our recent deals needs to be used between December 2-9 – Which is today!
To keep the cash from expiring, you can make any purchase at Kohl’s online or in-store using the cash as payment and then simply return that item/s. You will then receive store credit for the amount of the return – even though you paid with Kohl’s cash. The good part is that the store credit doesn’t expire! Store credit is treated exactly like a gift card.
Also note that if you have a Kohl’s cash paper certificate, even though it may be expired, as long as it’s within a reasonable time frame, some Kohl’s stores may still accept it. Some will do it even if it expired within the past two to three weeks. However, this practice does seem to change from store to store without notice.
Kohl’s cash is treated as a coupon not cash. That means that whenever you purchase anything with Kohl’s cash, the portion of your purchase paid for with the cash is not subject to sales tax. Though the downside to it being treated as a coupon is that, if you have a % off coupon, first your Kohls cash will be deducted from the purchase and only then will the % off be applied. So if you have a 20% off coupon for a $100 order, normally your order savings will be $20, but if you were to use $50 in Kohl’s cash then the 20% will come off the remaining $50 which will be $10 off instead of $20.
Also good to know, is that, If you got a paper cerificate but can’t make it in to a store, you can also use it online.
