50,000 Bonus Miles on the Miles & More Credit Card is Back!

Update 3: Offer Expired

Update 2: This offer is scheduled to end Today – December 15th.

Update: Barclaycard has relaunched the Lufthansa Miles & More credit card. Also, the sign-up bonus is currently increased from 20,000 miles to 50,000 miles on the Lufthansa Premier Miles & More World MasterCard.

Benefits:

    • Earn 20,000 award miles after your first purchase
    • Earn an additional 30,000 award miles after spending $5,000 or more in purchases in the first 90 days of opening your account
    • With 50,000 award miles you can redeem for a round-trip award flight to Hawaii, Europe or the Caribbean!
    • Cardholders receive a FREE Companion Ticket annually
    • Complimentary FICO Scores as a benefit to active cardmembers.
    • Earn 2 award miles per $1 spent on ticket purchases directly from Miles & More integrated airline partners
    • Earn 1 award mile per $1 on all other purchases
    • 0% APR on all purchases & Balance Transfers for the first 12 months
    • NO Foreign transaction fees
    • $79 annual fee
  • Note: You can get the annual fee waived the first year. Once you receive the card, and the annual fee has posted to your account, you can then call up and request the fee be removed. If the agent denies the request, ask to speak to an account specialist.

The Miles & More program is the award program of Lufthansa, Swiss Airlines and Austrian Airlines.

Lufthansa is also a member of the Star Alliance Network.  This means that you can redeem Lufthansa miles for flights on any of the 27 Star Alliance airlines (Lufthansa charges high fuel charges unless you are redeeming for flights on United Airlines, US Airways or LOT Polish Airlines). Additionally,  you can redeem for flights on Austrian Airlines Group holiday flights, Croatia Airlines, Germanwings, and Air Dolomit.

One of the great benefits of the Miles & More program is the great promotions they constantly run.
For instance, they currently have promotions from select locations in the US to many locations in Europe for just 55,000 miles round trip in BUSINESS CLASS!!

After you do the initial spending on this card, you’ll have 55,000 miles! Click here for a full list of promotions and “book by” dates.

Some other great benefits of the Miles & More program are:

  • You can book 1-way awards at half the price of round-trip awards.
  • It costs only 35,000 miles round trip using Miles & More miles (compared to 50,000 miles United would charge) for a First Class award on United Airlines within the continental US or Canada – excluding Hawaii.
  • Barring Promos, it costs 50,000 miles round trip in economy from the US to Europe on Lufthansa, Swiss or Austrian (on other Star Alliance partners it is 60,000 miles). Just bear in mind though that Miles & More charges high fuel charges when booking a reward ticket except when you are booking on United, US, or Lot Polish airlines.
  • 50,000 miles is worth at the very least 2 FREE round trip tickets anywhere in the US with no fuel charges.
  • 50,000 miles is also enough for a one way business class ticket to europe.
  • Generally, Lufthansa and Swiss Airlines block other Star Alliance partners from accessing “some” of their First Class award seats. Lufthansa gives access to more first class award availability to members of it’s own Miles & More program. So, it may be easier to snag a first class seat on Lufthansa or Swiss airlines with these miles.

Additionally, If your mailing address is in Israel, the Miles & More points may very well offer the best value for mileage tickets, Tel Aviv to Europe.

Before applying for the credit card, you will need a Miles & More frequent flyer number, you can apply for one here for free.

Also, a great thing is that if this card is offered through Barclaycard, which means 2 things. 1. Barclaycard generally pulls from Transunion, therefore the credit pull will not show up on your Experian or Equifax report which is where Chase/Amex (depending on your location) generally pull from, and 2. If you are maxed out applying for Chase/Amex/Citi cards this is another great credit card offer you can apply for.

Other Barclays cards with mega sign-up bonuses you might want to consider are the Barclaycard Arrival World Mastercard which offers 40,000 points for spending $1,000 within 90 days and is one of the best cash back credit cardsaround. It offers 2.2% cash-back on everytihng. Another card you may consider is The US Airways Premier World MasterCard Which offers up-to 40,000 Bonus points. For a full list of all the Barclaycard credit cards Click Here

If you are denied after applying for any of these cards, you can call reconsideration at 1-866-408-4064.

Bottom Line: At the very least you will be getting at least 2 FREE economy class tickets within the continental US! Also, if you are maxed out applying for Chase, Amex or Citi credit cards, you may want to consider this card as it is a Barclays.

  1. I applied for this card last time and sold my points for 1.6 cents each and made a pretty penny. I’m not sure if I should pull the trigger again?

    • Unfortunately the days of just 1 credit pull are over. You will most definitely get more than 1 pull. Though they will most likely only be on Transunion.

  2. guys make sure you apply for a miles and more frequent flyer number first. i didn’t and then it asked me for it. the link can be found towards the end of the post.

    • One way is 40,000 miles. Even though you will presumably be using Lufthansa Miles & More miles, be sure to book it on like US airways though, as there won’t be any of those high “fuel charges/fees”.

  3. The offer on this card is awesome, but the problem is that i have to spend $5000 in 3 months which is a bit tough. Any ideas how I can achieve that?

    • Sure! You can get the free American Express Serve card. With the Serve card you can upload from your credit card $1,000 per month for free, so that will be $3,000-$4,000 spend right there. You can then move that monthly $1,000 into your bank account. There is no credit pull with the Amex serve, and there also a current promo for $50 free when you make a Direct Deposit + this card is eligible for the Small business Saturday free $10 promo. A Paypal transfer or Amazon Payments transfer qualify for a direct deposit.
Another option or in addition to, is Amazon Payments. With Amazon Payments, you can “pay someone” up-to $1,000 from your credit card for free. That “someone” (can be a spouse or friend etc;) can then transfer that $1,000 into their bank account.Tthat’s another $3,000-$4,000 of manufactured spend.

    • Same happened to me. You need to tell them that you thought it was free the first year and your not sure why you are being charged. That’s what worked for me. She put me on hold for a minute, when I told her that, She then came back on the phone and told me it was waived.
      Certainly don’t give up bro.
