Starwood Starpoints: (Note –  Marriott Hotels has acquired Starwood Resorts and Hotels, so changes will most likely be coming at some point, though as of now there is no knowing when and what the new program will look like.)

Starpoints are from the most valuable and flexible from all the different points out there.

Here’s what they can be used for;

1. FREE Hotel Stays: SPG points can be redeemed for hotel stays at over 1,700 hotel properties worldwide. Starwood has great award availability with no blackout dates. If there is a room available you will get it.The Starwood hotel chain includes Westin, St. Regis, Sheraton, Design Hotels, Tribute Portfolio, Four Points by Sheraton, Le Meridien, Loft, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection and element hotels.

  • Free nights start at just 2,000 points a night for weekend redemption’s or 3,000 points a night for weekday redemption’s at category 1 hotels.
  • Category 2 hotels are 3,000 – 4,000 points a night.
  • Category 3 hotels are 7,000 points a night.

  • Cash Back rewards never expire as long as your account is open
  • No annual fee

One of the great benefits of this card (where you can rack up nice bonus points) is the 5x category spend on up-to $1,500 per quarter (Note: This quarter the bonus has been raised to 10%). There are 4 quarters per year, each quarter the Freedom card offers 5 points for every dollar spent at select stores or categories. For example, this quarter, Q4, the stores included in the bonus category are Amazon, Zappos, Audible.com and Diapers.com.

If you maximize the $1,500 spend per quarter on the 5x category spend (which is $6,000 in yearly spend) you will get 30,000 Ultimate Rewards points. Normally 30,000 Freedom Ultimate Rewards points equals $300 in cash-back, but if you have the Sapphire Preferred and/or Ink Plus credit cards, you can transfer the points into your Sapphire/Ink accounts.

Once the points are in your Sapphire/Ink accounts, they can then also be transferred out to more lucrative airline/hotel points, where the value per point can many times exceed the 1 cent value per point you were to get otherwise.

You can also transfer points from the Sapphire/Ink cards over to your Freedom card, to keep your points alive, if you were to close one of those accounts, as the Freedom card does not have any annual fees.

Update: This offer is set to end today, Wednesday, June 24.
————————————–

For a limited time, Chase has increased the bonus on the Chase Freedom credit card from 10,000 bonus points to now 20,000 bonus points! Capture

To get the 20,000 bonus points, you just need to spend $500 within the first 3 months of card opening.

Additionally, you’ll also get an extra 2,500 points when you add a free additional user card for a total of 22,500 points!

Freedom card benefits:

  • Named a Best Card for Cash Back by MONEY® Magazine
  • For a limited time, earn a $200 Bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening
  • Earn a $25 Bonus after you add your first authorized user and make a purchase within this same 3-month period
  • 0% Intro APR for 15 months on purchases and balance transfers. After the intro period, a variable APR of 13.99-22.99%
  • 5% Cash Back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories each quarter.
  • You’ll enjoy new 5% categories every 3 months like Gas stations, Restaurants and Amazon.com. It’s free and easy to activate your bonus each quarter!
  • Unlimited 1% Cash Back on all other purchases
  • No annual fee and rewards never expire as long as your account is open

One of the great benefits of this card (where you can rack up nice bonus points) is the 5x category spend on up-to $1,500 per quarter. There are 4 quarters per year, each quarter the Freedom card offers 5 points for every dollar spent at select stores or categories. For example, Q3 will be Gas stations, and Q4, you will be able to earn 5 points on every dollar at Amazon and select other stores.

The Hilton brand includes Hilton Hotels, Waldorf Astoria, Conrad Hotels & others. The two free weekend night certificates have no category restrictions whatsoever. • Hilton Paris
Capture1(Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem sample weekend rate, mid June - FREE with just
one of your night certificates!)

I recently made a short jaunt to the holy land – as it was pretty hard to resist with the  $350 ticket deal – and stayed over the weekend for free, using just one night certificate, at the new fabulously luxurious Waldorf Astoria Jerusalem. It was awesome! It’s the nicest hotel in Israel by far. It’s right next to Mamila and just right outside the old city. Service was great and I got an upgrade being that I was a gold member. The meals there are a bit pricey at $110 per meal per adult – good thing I had other arrangements. Breakfast however is free for Gold members, and is just amazing, lavish and abundant. Breakfast ends at 11 am on the weekend, so you can definitely use that as an early lunch if you prefer instead of spending the $110 on the regular lunch meal. The spa was not yet open, though it should be opening within the near future. Once open, it will be the only Hilton property in the world to boast entirely separate spas for both men and women.
